Freedom Flotilla Coalition confirms detention of eight Madleen volunteers

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition reported that Israeli authorities continue to detain eight volunteers from the Madleen aid ship, while four others have been deported. Legal representatives from Adalah have met with 10 of the 12 detained individuals, including journalists Omar Fayad and Yanis Mohamedi.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) announced on Tuesday that Israeli authorities continue to detain eight volunteers from the humanitarian aid ship Madleen, nearly 24 hours after all contact with them was lost. The coalition also confirmed that four other volunteers had been forcibly deported.

According to the coalition’s statement, lawyers from the legal organization Adalah were able to meet with 10 of the 12 detained volunteers. Journalists Omar Fayad (from Al Jazeera) and Yanis Mohamedi (from France) are currently being represented by independent legal advisors.

The detained volunteers include activists and journalists from various European and Latin American countries. Those deported are Baptiste André (France), Greta Thunberg (Sweden), Sergio Toribio (Spain), and Omar Fayad (France).

The remaining detainees are Saeb Ordu (Türkiye), Mark van Ryn (Netherlands), Pascal Mourieras (France), Riva Viard (France), Rima Hassan (France), and Tiago Avi (Brazil).
